ILSHRM State Conference

The Illinois HR Conference & Exposition is the annual conference of the Illinois State Council, a state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Each year the event attracts over 700 human resource professionals and vendors throughout the state of Illinois and across the nation. Programs presented at the annual conference cover all aspects of the SHRM Body of Knowledge. In addition to multiple educational opportunities, attendees will also be able to network with fellow human resource professionals, check out the latest and greatest services offered by the top human resource vendors and have some fun at our social events. ILSHRM Leadership Conference

This annual conference is targeted at the volunteer board members of our ILSHRM Chapter. The focus of this conference is to offer attendees a chance to network and learn best practices that will help them strengthen the work of their local SHRM Chapter. Each year this session offers a deeper understanding of how SHRM, the Illinois State SHRM Council and Chapters support the HR Professional. Area of focus may include workforce readiness, certification, diversity, governmental affairs, membership, special statewide projects, and many more. ILSHRM Legislative Conference

In the past several years, ILSHRM has strived to assist HR professionals to stay on top of the forever changing employment law at the state level with an annual legislative conference.  Our focus has shifted with introducing the importance of advocacy.   We will continue to provide the latest trends and changes in employment law however; we will be focusing many of our efforts towards advocacy.  As an advocate for the HR community, it is important that we keep our elected officials informed on how public policy issues can affect employees, employers, and the HR profession as a whole.  ILSHRM has a group of dedicated volunteers that work with paid lobbyists to stay abreast of the latest issues that affect HR.  In times of need, there will be information disseminated to Illinois members calling for action; asking members to contact their legislators to inform them of our opposition or support of specific legislation.  However, it is imperative that we begin to build relationships with our state legislators now so when the time comes our voice will be heard.  Our next Advocacy Day at the Capitol will be April 25-26, 2017. click here for more information.
